Dr. Lena Harris

Introducing Dr. Lena Harris, a beacon of compassion and expertise at our animal hospital. Hailing from the picturesque town of Albertville, AL, Dr. Harris embarked on her veterinary journey at Auburn University, earning her esteemed degree. Since 2014, she has been a stalwart caregiver for our cherished clientele and their beloved pets.
Intriguingly, before joining 2nd Avenue Animal Hospital, Dr. Harris donned the hat of a phlebotomist, a testament to her diverse and enriching professional journey. A day in her life is a medley of surgeries, examinations, and unwavering dedication to improving the lives of both pets and their owners.

She believes in the divine gift of pets, especially dogs, and endeavors to be the best caretaker for these beautiful creations. Beyond the hospital walls, her passion for the outdoors comes alive through jogging, yard work, and tending to her vast array of animals, each cherished in their unique way.

Her heart lies close to the earth and its creatures, showcased by her love for farm animal work. Assisting cows during calving holds a special place in her heart, a testament to her deep-rooted love for all living beings. Dr. Harris extends her compassion beyond borders, engaging in meaningful mission work on the Sioux Reservation in South Dakota.

Dr. Harris eloquently expresses her dedication: “God was very good to us to give us pets (especially dogs) and he has given us dominion over them. I should try my best to take care of these wonderful creatures he created.”

Dr. Kayla Holt

Meet Dr. Holt, the ultimate animal enthusiast with a flair for adventure! Hailing from the picturesque landscapes of Washington State, she rode her first horse and cuddled her first cat in the vibrant town of Southlake, Texas. From that moment on, she knew her destiny was to care for these furry companions.

Imagine a childhood where every day was a pet paradise, with a horse in the backyard and a cat ruling the house! This dynamic duo of a horse-loving, cat-cuddling girl set off on an incredible journey. Dr. Holt’s love for these critters led her to the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she honed her skills in Equestrian Studies. After all, what better way to connect with animals than to ride alongside them?

But the adventure didn’t stop there. Dr. Holt galloped her way back to Texas, ready to conquer vet school at Texas A&M University. Fast forward to 2022, and she emerged as a full-fledged veterinarian, ready to make a difference in the lives of animals and their devoted humans.

In her free time, this energetic doctor is a force of nature. Picture her racing through trails on horseback, conquering peaks with her trusty dog by her side, and jet-setting to new horizons with her friends. Dr. Holt and her husband, the dynamic animal-loving duo, oversee a bustling family of critters. There’s Hank the Border Collie, always ready for playtime, and the trio of mischievous cats – Dexter, Thomas, and Benny. Not to forget the majestic duo of Izzy and Chili, her beloved horses, and the mini donkey named M&M, adding a touch of adorable chaos to their lives.
